Welcome! If you're reading this, you probably have someone you love who is about to walk across 20+ miles of trail in the Utah wilderness while pulling a handcart. You've come to the right place.
This is the official trek journal for the St. George North Stake Trek 2026. We'll be posting updates here each day of trek — Wednesday through Saturday, July 8–11 — so that parents, grandparents, siblings, and friends can follow along with what's happening out on the trail. Think of it as a front-row seat from a few hundred miles away.
A quick note on timing: our youth will be trekking in a pretty remote area, and we'll be posting updates via mobile Starlink. We'll do our best to post each day, but if there's a gap, it just means we were busy helping someone up a hill. Check back and we'll catch you up.
What is Trek?
Trek is a multi-day pioneer reenactment experience for the youth of our stake. For four days, young men and young women dress in period clothing, pull handcarts, sleep in camps, eat meals around a fire, and experience — in a small but very real way — what the early Latter-day Saint pioneers went through as they crossed the plains in the 1800s.
It's not just a history project, though. It's a spiritual experience. Away from phones and schedules and the usual noise, something tends to happen to people out on the trail. They discover they're stronger than they thought. They feel the Spirit in ways that are hard to find in everyday life. They come home changed — a little tired, probably a lot hungry, and genuinely different in ways that are hard to explain but easy to see.
We have seen it happen every time. We expect this year to be no different.
For the Youth Reading This Later
This journal is for you, too — maybe more than anyone else. We wrote it so that someday, when you're older and life is busy and you've half-forgotten the exact details, you can come back here and read what happened. The Women's Pull. The long day. The fireside on the last night. The people who walked next to you.
We want you to remember. So we're writing it down.
Trek starts Wednesday, July 8th. First update coming that night.
Let's go.
